Frequently Asked Questions
What is mandira?
mandira is a sacred space for healing, community, and transformation. We offer yoga, meditation, sound healing, workshops, ceremonies, and more. We honor the whole self — body, mind, and spirit — and invite our community into practices that are soulful, inclusive, trauma-informed, and heart-led. Our space is serene, welcoming, and sacred… a temple to return home to yourself.
What does “mandira” mean?
mandira is a beautiful Sanskrit word meaning temple or sacred space. To us, with deep reverence, it represents a return to inner peace, remembrance, and community — a sanctuary where you remember your wholeness.
Where is mandira located?
We are located at 14 Sanford Street in the heart of downtown Fairfield, CT — walking distance from the train station. Feel free to message us directly with any questions.
How do I sign up for classes or events?
To book classes, you’ll need to create an account through our Union platform. It’s quick and easy:
Visit our Union page (click here or scroll below)
Click “Sign Up” in the top right corner
Enter your name, email, and create a password
Once your account is created, you can book classes, manage your schedule, and track your purchases with ease.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask for at least 12 hours' notice for cancellations. You can cancel directly through your Union account. If you cancel in time, your class credit will be saved to use later. This helps us plan our mat layout and welcome others into the space.
Where do I park?
Street parking is available on Sanford Street, Post Road, and near the train station. Check for posted time limits (2 or 3 hours), and give yourself extra time during peak hours (after 5:30pm)
What are your hours?
Our hours vary by class and event. We do not have a waiting room, so if the door is closed and a “Class in Session” sign is posted, we ask that you honor the class privacy and come back later. You’re always welcome to visit us at Element 50 around the corner to learn more.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself. We provide mats, blocks, bolsters, and all necessary props. You’re welcome to bring your own mat or water bottle. Please dress comfortably.
What if I’ve never done yoga or energy work before?
You’re in the perfect place to begin. All classes, ceremonies, and sessions are beginner-friendly and guided with care. For new yoga students, we recommend starting with Hatha (gentle) yoga.
What level are your classes?
Our classes are open-level, welcoming beginners to advanced practitioners. Some events include movement, others are more meditative — please read each description. mandira is a space where all are supported.
